About Me & ThRive
Hi my name is Danielle, I am married to a supportive and wonderful husband and I'm a Mum of 2 young children. I have always had a passion for leisure and recreation and using it as a tool to better people's lives. I had been doing it since I was young unknowing that there was a whole profession based on this called Recreational Therapy.
I completed the 3-year Bachelor of Health Science degree. I majored in Therapeutic Recreation and Health Service Management. I was fortunate to have spent time doing various work placements in sectors including rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care and dementia care.
I have a keen interest in how recreation influences and impacts the body in positive ways. My degree has allowed me to explore this further and has allowed me to apply evidenced based interventions to help any individual in their quest for bettering their health and wellbeing.
I have personally benefitted from Recreational Therapy, particularly after having my kids. I have always had a love for music, dancing, playing various instruments, exercise, yoga/Pilates/tai chi, puzzle magazines, organising fun events for family and friends and most importantly nurturing others. I have learnt how important it is for me to continue doing what I love even after the massive life change of having children. Some of my hobbies had to be adapted to my current abilities and needs and that is what recreational therapy is all about...providing access to leisure and recreation despite what challenges and changes you are facing.
