What is Recreational Therapy (RT)

Recreational therapy is a structured approach that uses leisure activities as tools to address the identified needs of individuals dealing with illnesses, disabilities and/or life challenges. The aim of recreational therapy is to enhance mental and physical health, support recovery, and improve overall well-being.

The goal is to enhance self esteem, life satisfaction and empowering people to take part in positive and meaningful life changes through leisure and recreation.

There are many different recreational and therapeutic interventions and activities that client's can benefit from taking into account the persons cognitive and physical abilities and there specific interests.
